Anyone have any ideas on a bike friendly car that handles well and is fast? I want something I can throw my bikes and gear in and still look cool pulling in to the races.
I want to spend $65K or less since is going to be my every day car.
Thoughts?

Sponsors and rides
So I met with the Ohio based company that is putting a team together and was offered my first paying gig as a cyclist. I have to think about it because I am not sure how I will look in the colors of the team kits they showed me. The money would be cool and there would be sweet perks from their line of business, but the colors don't work for me. I told the VP of marketing that I will most likely not ride cuz of the kit and he said he might be able to change everything to get me on board. Looks like I have some pull!
I got out for 106 miles @ 19.2 mph on Sunday with a good friend of mine. He was only good for about 60 miles but I needed much more than that. The weather was OK and the on and off showers made me feel like I was racing a spring classic.
I should own the endurance races this year AND kick ass in the cross country stuff. I am going to dominate the ROAD and DIRT!

Sunday ride
I will be a suffereing from jet lag but a friend of mine called to invite me for a ride this Sunday. We are currently planning it, but we are hoping to get in around 100 slow and steady base miles on our cross bikes. My fear is that with all the miles I have been putting in, and all the time I have been spending in the gym, my easy miles are going to be hard for him.
I have always been dedicated to my cycling but this year I am like no other. To quote Mr. T- " I pitty the fool" that lines up with me.

Coming Home
Because of sponsorship negotiations I am cutting my training camp short and returning home over the weekend. I can't get any flights into Ohio so I have to get home via Pittsburgh. It's kinda cool though since my new team is picking up the tab on the rental car for my 2 hour trip.
Once I am home I will have to get used to the cold weather again. Looks like I will be busting out the duct taped shoes and ski goggles for my rides in the near future!
See ya on the bike soon!

Update!
I got in my longest ride of my off season today, 146 miles @ 19.7 mph . Total elevation was around 6,200 ft . Overall a good base mile ride.
In other news, I have emailed in my notice to the boss today, I am quitting work and seeking to ride full time this year. Big sponsor news coming soon! I can't wait to get into a new team kit, this old stuff is getting pretty thin. I swear I can see my pubes through it- my shaving stops mid-thigh!
Thanks to my boys in C-bus for the sponsorship lead!

Long overdue update
So where has yours truly been as of late and why have I not updated your most favorite blog? It’s because I have been traveling abroad to find a complete and competent cycling camp that understands what it takes to win. I am currently in Aukland New Zealand at the Depeche Cycling camp( http://tr.nelson.co.nz/training_for_cycling.htm ) . This camp consists of many lectures and classroom hours as well as a huge amount of riding. Since I have been here I have logged an average of 85 miles per day- talk about base miles!
I have recently decided to change my focus for the upcoming season. Instead of training for races against the same old same old road racing crowd of Ohio, I am going to focus more on my MTB skills. I am no stranger to the MTB scene, I have been a multiple time qualifier for the NORBA nationals and have had my share of success in races in Ohio, West Virginia and Michingan. I plan to race the Ohio MTB series as training for larger more meaningful races. Honestly, short of a couple of the top guys in Ohio, there really is nothing to prove here any longer. Come on, when the biggest thing these guys have to brag about is a “sponsorship” deal from some company that offers discounts to anyone who asks for one, that isn’t saying much.
Anyhow, that’s all for now… Look for some pictures of training camp in the near future.
